See, I do have a past...

Well, I worked hard and used a lot of this "stuff." I purchased Family Tree Maker software and compiled quite a bit of family data. (Some mine, some I just don't know , yet!) I made a lot of new friends and received over 9,000 emails. I am still reading. I talked with a lot of relatives I haven't seen or heard from in decades. Some have likewise started researching the past. I learned a lot about what every day life was like for my ancestors and that I have it pretty good thanks to the efforts they made and the values they passed on. I also found out there are some wonderful people in my "tree" as well as a few "bad apples." I did find out I am more Irish and Scottish and not really very much German as I was told. My family name goes back to the early Picts, about 1500 B.C. You remember the Picts, from Braveheart. There is a famous poet, song writer, and novelist (from whom I could use some help). These's an exciting scandal in the deep south with a duel over a woman and a coverup which resulted in all references in local records and library archives cutout or missing. I found letters from 2 Confederate soldiers during the Civil War. But most of all I found my self and my heritage and I can now more accurately pass this on to my children.
